Mountainside VillageProject Description:Mountainside Village is a neighborhood as unique as it is authentic, graced by thoughtful design, a spectacular location, and a commitment to fine homebuilding.Nestled at the base of Teton Pass in Victor, Idaho, Mountainside Village offers the perfect balance of craftsman charm and 21st century amenities, with extensive walking and biking trails, waterfront parks, direct access to vast open spaces, and a vibrant village center. Our attractive, walkable neighborhood provides a variety of housing options, and it is ideally situated near world class skiing, hiking, biking, and fishing. We are committed to the art of green building, reflecting our dedication to top-quality construction and state of the art design. Vibrant neighborhood communities don’t just happen. It takes good planning and thoughtful design to create rich, authentic communities. Luckily, the design team at Mountainside Village has worked hard to capture the community-supporting qualities of traditional neighborhoods, while integrating cutting-edge amenities and the highest quality modern construction. In addition, unique community offerings, such as our own Mountainside Institute, our Village Center, and Mountainside's Blue Flax Farm, help keep our community vital and alive. As a result of all of this work, Mountainside Village is the kind of place where you run into friends and neighbors walking down the tree-lined streets. Where you can sit on the front porch during long summer evenings, watching the sunset over the Big Hole Mountains. It's a place where you can feel safe, and you can be comforted by the knowledge that your home is a healthy home, free of toxins and air pollutants. Where you can walk your kids to the Village Depot bus stop in the morning, grabbing a hot cup of coffee in the Village Center café along the way. It's a neighborhood where a diversity of housing types ensures that a variety of different people can live in community together. And it's a place that supports active lifestyles, offering walking trails and bike paths that connect Mountainside Village with both the wild, open spaces of the Teton Range and the city's of Victor and Driggs. The shape of this community is no accident. Mountainside Village’s central village green, numerous street trees, plentiful green spaces, sidewalks and paths all contribute to a people-friendly neighborhood. Garages will typically be accessed from rear lanes, with houses built forward to the street, creating a welcoming streetscape where neighbors greet you from their front porches. Mountainside Village is not only designed to promote authentic community life, it is also on the cutting-edge of green building and sustainable living. We know that the choices we make today will affect the lives of our children, our grandchildren, and the natural environment for years to come. For this reason, we are dedicated to doing our part to prove that living the good life can mean living a sustainable life, and we have integrated this concept into everything we do here at Mountainside Village. Mountainside Village also supports its own 501(c)3 organization called Mountainside Foundation & Institute. The Institute is committed to increasing awareness and appreciation of the principles of traditional neighborhood design and green building in Idaho's Teton Valley region, while promoting a vibrant community life in Mountainside Village. In addition to offering core educational and social programming around these themes, MF&I proudly seeks to partner with and support other organizations, municipalities, and corporations, which focus specifically on sustainable living and holistic wellness. Mountainside Institute is currently growing and expanding its programming, and we are proud to be offering several new events, seminars, and workshops this year. Our ultimate goal? We want to help our residents live the good life, and we believe we’re on the right track. Visit www.mountainsidevillageidaho.com to learn more. Why GY-Framework? Mountainside Village is proud to be a pilot project under the Greater Yellowstone Business Partnership’s Greater Yellowstone Framework for Sustainable Development. As a pilot project of the US Green Building Council’s new LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) program, we have learned first hand how difficult it can be to design a rating system that is appropriate for projects in all parts of the country. We have enthusiastically decided to become a part of the GY-Framework Pilot team, because we recognize the value of working to define sustainable development in a regionally sensitive way. The Greater Yellowstone region has climatic, density, and wildlife qualities that make it very different than metropolitan centers such as Seattle, New York City, and Chicago. The GY-Framework design committee has worked hard to take the best wisdom and creativity of LEED-ND, while leaving behind the parts of that program that are inapplicable to most of the projects in our area. We are excited to continue working with the GY-Framework design committee to develop a program that encourages and rewards the best in green building, smart planning, and energy efficiency, while remaining as unique as the Yellowstone region itself.
