Harriman State Park
Project Description:
Harriman State Park lies within an 11,000-acre wildlife refuge in the
greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Moose, Elk, and Sandhill Cranes are
common, as is North America's largest waterfowl, the Trumpeter Swan.
Known as one of the best fly-fishing streams in the nation, the Henrys
Fork meanders for eight miles through Harriman. Over 20 miles of trails
are available for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross county
skiing. LEED concepts are being designed into a planned renovation
project in the park.
GY Framework Progress:
Harriman State Park is gearing up for a pre-construction meeting
mid-June and will begin construction shortly thereafter, with a 300-day
completion deadline. Plans include a new monument sign on Highway 20 in
Island Park, a new ranch sign near the park headquarters, complete
renovation of the old bunkhouse, converting the middle dude barn into a
dining facility and the south dude barn into a retreat center and some
additional road work.
