John
Carney, AIA has 30 years of
professional architecture experience. After receiving his Master of
Architecture from Harvard University’s GSD, he practiced in
Chicago and Denver
for over 15 years. In 1992 John founded Carney Architects in Jackson,
Wyoming.
A commitment to civic, social and environmental values by means of
conscientious,
inventive building remains central to all of his work. Guided by these
principles John has designed many projects in the Rocky Mountain West,
ranging
from public buildings to residential projects.
His firm recently employed sustainable design strategies
for an Interpretive Center in Grand Teton National Park, a historic
project
designed to promote environmental stewardship.
John
actively engages in local civic work.
He serves on the Jackson Hole Land Trust, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort,
and Jackson
Hole Historical Society Boards, and was both a County Commissioner and
on the
Teton County Planning Commission. John was V.P. of the Wyoming AIA
Chapter in
2001, and is licensed in CO, WY, MT, UT and ID.
