Growth pressures in the Upper Green River Valley are being attributed to the latest natural gas play to hit the resource-rich region. Pinedale is the retail center supporting the most recent energy development—located on the Pinedale Anticline and Jonah gas fields—where over 10,000 wells are proposed over the next decade. While appreciative of the wealth brought to the community through mineral resources, the community is looking to balance development with appropriate protections for groundwater, wildlife and scenic values. In October a bag-lunch presentation at the public library attracted local interest in the Partnership and significant news coverage.
