Flanking Yellowstone National Park on the southwest is Fremont County, home to the Henry’s Fork watershed and thousands of anglers who consider this rainbow trout stream among the nation’s finest wild trout fisheries. A community reception was held in Island Park in late September, effectively launching the membership campaign and inspiring four founding members one pleasant fall evening. Concerns with the economic viability of potato farming are on the minds of farmers in Ashton and St. Anthony, as are their struggling downtown centers. Continued second home development in the Island Park area has led to highway expansion proposals on US 20 and renewed interest in enforcing the county’s award-winning comprehensive plan and development code.
