Concurrent Session II-b - Reconsidering Rail: Status of Train Travel in the Region
Tuesday, May 20 3:30pm

Ken Vranek

is the Vice President of Operations for GrandLuxe Rail Journeys.  GrandLuxe Rail Journeys, based in Evergreen, Colorado, specializes in long-distance trips in which travelers sleep in private cabins aboard the country’s premier, private passenger train.  Ken’s responsibilities include all on board accommodations and activities for GrandLuxe passengers as well as all off train tours.

With 10 different four- to 12-day itineraries offered throughout the United States and Mexico, including national parks and other popular destinations, a journey aboard the GrandLuxe Express is much more than a train trip.  Passengers experience the Golden Age of Rail on the elegant 21-car train appointed with vintage furnishings.  Guests dine on delicious, upscale cuisine in the Dining Car, relax in the inviting Lounge Car, sleep in comfortable cabins, and enjoy personal service from their butlers, wait staff and tour guides.  Passengers also view stunning scenery as the train winds through some of the nation’s rarely seen countryside.

Ken started his career with Marriott hotels and he has operated many fine hotel properties and resorts.  The 20+ years of hospitality experience is what led Ken to GrandLuxe, and the opportunity to manage the most unique vacation experience in the country.
