Concurrent Session II
- Front and
Center: Transportation in Our National Parks
Moderated by Lisa Ballard, Current Transportation Solutions
Tuesday, May
20 3:30pm
Sandy Shuptrine
says she is taking notes from her 3 yr. old
grandson’s playbook by keeping in mind the story of The
Little Engine That Could-both as a reminder of an efficient method of
transporting goods that improve people’s lives and the
inspiration that many things worth doing are not initially easy or
readily accepted.
She is currently the Executive Coordinator of the Yellowstone-Teton
Clean Energy Coalition, one of more than 80 coalitions affiliated with
the U.S Department of Energy’s Clean Cities Program seeking
to displace the use of petroleum in the transportation
sector. Previously, she served 12 years as a Teton County,
Wyoming Commissioner, where she was an advocate for sustainable actions
including recycling, pathways, public transit and land use
planning. Her Jackson Hole family members and she work to
carpool, bike, utilize renewable energy sources and grow organic
produce that is available at the Jackson Farmer’s Market.
