Kaaren Jacobson has a Ph.D. in
public administration from Virginia Tech, 1985. She taught
public administration and directed the graduate program in public
administration for 19 years at Montana State University before retiring
in 2004. Prior to her graduate education she worked for
Montata State government for ten years in Helena. She worked
primarily as a research analyst for the State Legislature,
Governor’s Budget Office, and Office of the Superintendent of
Public Instruction. She also served as an
administrator for the Department of Social and Rehabilitation services.
She was elected to the Bozeman City Commission in the fall of 2005 and
served two years as a commissioner before becoming Mayor in January of
2008.
