Roger
Chase was born in Burley, Idaho in 1952. He has lived in Pocatello
since 1953, except for a twoyear span from 1972 to 1975. He attended
Pocatello High School and Idaho State University.
He owned and operated Pick & Pay Grocery from 1976 to 1980. He
was employed with the J. R. Simplot Corporation from 1981 to 2001. He
is married to Janis Rhoads and has one daughter, Robin.
He served on the Pocatello City Council from 1990 to 1997 and served as
Council President in 1996 and 1997. He served in the Idaho State
Legislature from 1997 to 2001. The Legislative Committees he served on
were Revenue & Taxation, Business, Agriculture, and Ways
& Means. He was chairman for the Aid for Friends Homeless
Shelter, the Chief Foundation, the Heritage Festival, and the Portneuf
Aquifer Protection and Reclassification Group and has also served on
various boards for civic and church groups. While in the Idaho
Legislature, he was voted Legislator of the Year by the Professional
Firefighters of Idaho, Idaho Democratic Party and Friends of
Agriculture. He was also honored as “Volunteer of the Year by
the Southeast Idaho Community Action Agency.
